Click to See MoreRhian Swain has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Atlanta College of Art. She is a painter, photographer, designer, illustrator, writer, and former talk show host.
Her recent major exhibits include a duo exhibit called “1000 Words” at the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History, a solo show “People” at Augusta & Co. Gallery, a solo show “21st Century Goddesses” at the Ellis and Anne Johnson Gallery, a show of recent works at Sacred Heart Cultural Center Gallery, and a three-month exhibit in 2024 of “Breaking the Barriers: Women Who Impacted the Arts” at the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History. The series of paintings about women artists was partially funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The exhibit has been met with critical acclaim and will continue to tour until it’s final showing at the Georgia Cancer Center Gallery in the Winter of 2026.
She recently received the first-place juried award in “Threads of Labor” NAWA South Carolina Exhibit for her painting “Quilting Queen.”
Rhian was inducted in the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA) in September 2023 and currently serves on both the National Board and the NAWA South Carolina Chapter Board. In 2025 She was appointed as Co-chair of the PR Committee for NAWA National in NYC. Rhian is past President of the Greater Augusta Arts Council and currently serves on their Executive board.
She recently had paintings in exhibits in the Burroughs Chapin Museum in Myrtle Beach South, Carolina, the Salmagundi Club, New York, the Brookgreen Gardens’ Rosen Gallery, the Lenovich Gallery in New York, and the Augusta, Georgia City Gallery.
Rhian has been exhibiting and selling artwork regularly for 40 years. She works in many mediums, including acrylic, watercolor, multi-media and oils. She loves to infuse symbolism, and humor into her pieces. Bright colors are often a signature in her work.
