Rhian Swain has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Atlanta College of Art. She is a painter, photographer, designer, illustrator, writer, and former talk show host.

In 2023 she exhibited her new traveling exhibition “Breaking the Barriers: Women Who Impacted the Arts” twice, once at the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History and at the City of Augusta Gallery. The series of paintings and first exhibit was partially funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The exhibit has been met with critical acclaim and will continue to tour for the next several years. She was inducted in the National Association of Women Artists in September 2023.

In 2021 Rhian completed her second public art piece, one of Augusta’s popular painted pianos for Destination Augusta. She also painted one of the Traffic Boxes (the Frog Box at Broad and 5th Streets) in 2015. She has participated in many local exhibits, including shows in the Community Gallery of Augusta, The City Gallery, Private View, WetPaint Party, 4P Studio Gallery, at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art and at the Ellis and Ann Johnson Gallery. She was in her first New York show at The Salmagundi Club in New York as a member of NAWA.

Her solo and curated shows include exhibitions at Sacred Heart Cultural Center, the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History, Cotton Exchange, and D’Timms. She’s curated several themed shows that featured the work of local and national artists. Rhian has been exhibiting and selling artwork regularly for 40 years. She will be exhibiting in a duo-exhibition at Sacred Heart Cultural Center in May 2024 and her solo show “Breaking the Barriers” will feature new work September through October 2024 at the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History.

Rhian is owner of RedWolf Advertising, an Augusta-based agency, established in 1997.  She provides professional design, marketing, digital, public relations, and photography services for clients in the United States and in Europe. She has won numerous ADDYs for her illustrations and designs and was awarded the Silver Medal Award, Woman of Excellence Award, and Augusta Arts Award. She serves on several community committees and is currently the President of the Greater Augusta Arts Council’s Board of Directors.

Rhian is an artist who works in many mediums, including acrylic, watercolor, multi-media and digital (non-AI) painting. She loves to explore cultural and social issues and infuse symbolism into her pieces, creating dialogues. Humor (dark and light) and bright colors are often found in her work. Her recent focus has been on merging representational and abstract techniques that evoke an emotional impact.
